Biography
Mark Nassief is a writer/producer/director/editor who began his professional career in 1987 as a radio sportscaster in a tiny town in Western Oklahoma. That job led to work in television as a local producer and sports reporter, and eventually to writing, producing and directing national television sports programs.
In 1993 he started his own video production business and left sports behind for entertainment where he produced and edited projects for ABC, Nickelodeon, Castle Rock Films, and HBO. Later he began writing and producing special DVD features for Warner Bros., 20th Century Fox, and Universal Pictures. Among his documentaries are retrospectives for the feature films “Harry Potter,” “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid,” “Marley and Me,” “The Fast and the Furious,” and “The Hustler,” along with documenting animation classics like Warner Bros.’ “Looney Tunes” and “Popeye.”
Mark is also the co-creator and co-author of the Bubba Ganooj children’s books, a series comprised of three published books: The Selfish Shellfish, Scaredy Gnat, and Yabbit the Rabbit.
Mark won an Emmy award for his work as an Associate Director for NBC’s coverage of the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona as well as two Associated Press awards for his local sports reporting.
A graduate of UCLA with a Bachelor’s degree in History, Mark later returned to UCLA to study screenwriting. His professional journey has taken him to Oklahoma, Arkansas, San Francisco, and back to his home in Southern California where he currently resides with his wife and two children who provide him with endless amounts of writing material. And yes, he and Julia Roberts really did make Michael Jordan cry – go ahead, ask him about it!
